What is a Case Card and how do I use it?

What is a Card Case?

The Case Card is JAM STUDIO’s re-imagining of the everyday card holder. Rather than settling for a plain, flexible plastic sleeve, we took inspiration from the phone case. We believe your card holder should be an expression of your personality. Our Case Cards are built to be rigid, durable, and visually striking—offering a "hard-shell" approach to your essentials. Just as you choose a phone case to match your style, you can now do the same for your most-used cards.

How do I use it?

The Case Card is designed for a "Two-Card Lifestyle." It features two dedicated slots for your most essential card, typically an ID, an access card for your office or apartment, or debit/credit card.

  • Intentional Carry: We believe two cards is the "sweet spot." A single card feels restrictive, but two cards give you the flexibility you need while keeping your carry light, minimal, and intentional.

  • Modular Design: Every Case Card features a built-in attachment point. You can clip on a lanyard or charm of your choosing to further personalize how you wear and carry your setup.

Can I commission a custom design for my Case Card?

Yes! We offer a Bespoke service for those looking for a truly one-of-a-kind piece. Whether it’s a specific aesthetic or a unique functional requirement, we work closely with you to bring your vision to life.

Because these are designed and crafted from scratch, Bespoke commissions have a minimum lead time of 2 weeks. To start your custom journey, please visit our Bespoke Page and fill out the inquiry form at the bottom. You can also reach out to us at jam3d.design@gmail.com if you have preliminary questions.

How do I care for my JAM STUDIO Case Card?

To keep your Case Card looking its best, follow these care guidelines based on the type of case card:

  • Signature (PETG): These are durable and heat-resistant. You can clean them with lukewarm water and mild dish soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or extremely high temperatures to maintain the structural integrity.

  • Limited & Bespoke Tiers (Resin & PETG): These contain precision resin-printed parts for high detail. Resin is more sensitive to prolonged UV (sunlight) exposure and drops on hard surfaces. We recommend wiping them with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Avoid alcohol-based cleaners, as they can dull the finish of the resin parts.

What is the difference between Signature, Limited, and Bespoke Case Card?

We offer three type case card that suit your style and needs:

  • Signature: Our essential collection. These are made from high-quality PETG, designed for maximum durability and daily utility with a 3-business-day lead time.

  • Limited: These are released in small batches with unique designs. They often feature resin-printed components for finer detail and more intricate aesthetics. These have a 5-business-day lead time.

  • Bespoke: The pinnacle of JAM STUDIO. This is a 1-of-1 service where we design a Case Card specifically for you. It features a mix of premium resin and PETG, requiring a minimum of 2 weeks for design and craftsmanship.

3D Printing

How does 3D printing work?

At JAM STUDIO, we utilize two primary types of 3D printing to create our Case Cards. Each method offers a different balance of strength and detail:

  • FDM (Fused Deposition Modeling): Used for our Signature tier. It works by melting a filament (like PETG) and layering it precisely from the bottom up to create a durable, rigid structure.

  • SLA (Stereolithography): Used for our Limited and Bespoke tiers. This process uses a laser or light source to cure liquid resin into solid, high-detail parts, allowing for the intricate textures and designs that define our premium cards.

What is my ______ made of?

While our designs vary, the foundation of almost everything we create is Recycled PETG.

We chose this as our primary material because it strikes the perfect balance between high-strength durability and environmental responsibility. By using recycled filaments, we ensure that every product—from our Case Cards to our future studio essentials—is built to last while minimizing our plastic footprint.

For our more intricate designs, we also incorporate high-precision resin to achieve fine details that traditional methods can’t match.

What programs do you use to design JAM STUDIO products?

We primarily use Fusion 360 to handle the precision engineering and complex geometry of our products. However, every design begins away from the screen—we always start with pen and paper.

What are your printer settings and configuration for _____ ?

Hahaha nice try! That's our secret recipe 😉
